There are two solutions for collecting SMDR logs from the Mitel Networks 3300 ICP other than the printer port.

The SMDR logs can be outputted from the IP console MN5550

The SMDR logs can be outputted using the TCP port Number 1752 through the serial port

1/. IP CONSOLE

The first solution is to program the MN5550 IP console to have the SMDR outputted through the port that resides on the IP Console PC. The following must be programmed

The IP console must be programmed and installed (see online help for instructions for programming for the IP console

Go to the ESM and navigate to system configuration/system output ports/IP Consoles/system port assignment

Program the IP Console system port SC5550 OUT and give it a name

NOTE: The baud rate for this is automatically set to 1200 baud and cannot be changed so your call accounting system that you connect to must be set to 1200 baud. If both com ports (PC for the IP console and PC for call accounting) are programmed for Xon Xoff flow control and the call accounting PC sends an Xoff the records will be buffered on the IP console PC. The functionality of transferring the SMDR file to the OPS manager is not supported on release 3.0 of Mitel Networks 3300 ICP.

Navigate to the Application logical port assignment

Program SMDR continuous and enter the port name that you previously programmed

Connect a null modem cable from  com 1 port of the server that the IP console is connected to and connect the other end of the cable to your call accounting system.

NOTE: The IP console application cannot be shut down, the cable cannot be removed from either end because the Mitel Networks 3300 ICP will not buffer the SMDR logs. The Mitel Networks 3300

2/. Mitel Networks 3300 ICP SOCKET SUPPORT FOR LOGS AND ACD REAL TIME EVENTS

The ability to direct each of the four the Mitel Networks 3300 ICP log applications and ACD Real time events to remote applications via IP. The remote IP applications must act as TCP/IP clients.  The system listens on the following port addresses for remote connection requests: To do this the 3rd party application software would telnet to the IP address of the Mitel Networks 3300 ICP and specify the port for SMDR.  Telnet  xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 1752.

The burden is on the client applications to reconnect if the TCP/IP connection drops.  The system accepts multiple connections to each system application (3 maximum, however system performance must be considered).  The five call control applications operate uni-directionally from the Mitel Networks 3300 ICP to the remote applications. This could be an application that is purchased or just a telnet session from a server in the network. If  the session is disconnected and a 3rd party application is not used the session will have to be established manually. A third party application can consist of  just a server that telnets to the IP address and the correct port but keep in mind that it must be able to reconnect if the session drops.
